Final Exam Options

 

1. Write an essay in a blue exam book during our Final Exam period: Tuesday, April 17 at 10:30 am. I will give you a broad category and directions to use a minimum number of the 10 different writing methods illustrated in 40 Model Essays: description, narration, example, analysis, classification, process analysis, definition, comparison-contrast, cause and effect, argument.

 

2. Do final revisions of two or more of your best essays for this class. Save them on the web and send me the URL. Simple instructions are below, but you may do something fancier if you like.

 

Steps for saving Word documents on the Web

  1. Make sure that your Word documents are as perfect as you can make them.
  2. Save the essays on your M drive with names that describe what they are (e.g. Analysis Essay, Narrative Essay)
  3. From the “File” menu, select “Save as Web Page.”
    1. In the “Save In” window, click on the down triangle.
    2. Click on your user name/M drive.
    3. Double click on “Web pages”
    4. Double click on mypages.
    5. Click on the “Create a new folder” icon and name the new folder “writingsamples  [NOTE: Do not use capital letters or spaces in the web folder title.]
    6. Save each essay file in the writingsamples folder as a web page.
  4. To check if your documents are truly there, type in your browser window   

www.goshen.edu/~[your username]/writingsamples

This should take you to a directory of all of the essay files that you have saved to the folder named writingsamples.

  1. Send me the URL to your writing sample web portfolio by 12:30 p.m. next Tuesday.
