General Explanation of signs:

 

1, 2, 3, 4 = L. H. fingers

p, i, m, a = R. H. fingers (thumb, index-, middle-, ring finger)

Circled numbers eg.: = string numbers

Roman Numerals eg.: II, VII, IX, etc. = position numbers (frets where the first L. H. finger would land, if L. H. fingers lign up fret by fret)

 


 

 Cross Fingering  A string crossing that utilizes a disadvantageous R.H. fingering e. g. a movement from the third to the second string using "mi"
Bar Chords  A standard chord (eg.: E, Em or A, Am), transposed a fret or more up the fretboard, using 1, barred across the strings, to also raise the pitches of the remaining open strings
