Quiz Friday

Memorize every last one of the derivative rules for an informal (ungraded) quiz in class:

  • Constant, constant multiple, power, sum and difference rules (3.1)
  • $(e^x)'$, $(\ln(x))',\ (\sin(x))',\ (\cos(x))'$ (3.2)
  • The chain rule or $[f(g(x))]'$ (3.3)
  • Product and quotient rules (3.4)

Critical points of multivariable functions

Homework

Problem 8: The closed box with volume =60 cm^3. The volume, $V$ of a box is width * depth * height. If width=$x$ and depth=$y$ and $V=60$, figure out what the height is...

Then you should have enough info to find the total surface area. Hint: there are six faces, and each one is a rectangle.

About 43% of graded items still to come:

  • ~1/3 of labs
  • Remaining quizzes and HW
  • Exam 3 - 14%
  • Final exam - 20% - could replace one semester exam.

Moodle should be a conservative (low) estimate with possibility of final replacing an earlier exam. But the most advanced stuff is still to come.

Wiley homework tip

This homework wants you to enter coordinates in the format " $(1,-3.8)$ ". Unfortunately, you can *not* just type parentheses, a number, a comma...

Instead you need to go to the Parenthesis menu and select the option that inserts parentheses with two input boxes separated by a comma! :
