Feedback on the Thermometers lab
Hot water
- Thermometer starts at room temperature.
- Put the thermometer in a cup of hot water.
- Wait until the temperature levels out.
- Take the thermometer out of the hot water.
Looked like this:
It seemed like heating up was going faster than cooling down!
One explanation for this was:
Making something hot goes quicker than cooling down.
Based on this explanation, what do you think would happen if we plunged a thermometer at room temperature into a cold water cup, and then after a while, took it back out? Sketch a graph of temperature vs time.

How precisely do you know the temperature?
What's the temperature?
How certain are you?
Typically, we give an average value, and then "plus or minus" how much... if (! $homepage){ $stylesheet="/~paulmr/class/comments.css"; if (file_exists("/home/httpd/html/cment/comments.h")){ include "/home/httpd/html/cment/comments.h"; } } ?>
