About Exam 1
The exam will take place during a regular class period. You may use a scientific, non-graphing calculator. (The math department has a bunch of Casio FX-260 calculators, and you may borrow one of those for the exam.)
The exam will cover the topics in chapters 1.1-3 and 1.5-10 in our textbook.
- Exam 1 Review - the review questions we'll look at in class Monday.
- Exam 1 Review - with answers.
- Quiz 1 - answers. Stop by Paul's office to pick up your quiz if you want it before the exam.
- Fitting a function to data: How to find the line, or exponential, or power function that runs through two data points.
Some suggestions for studying:
- Study with someone else!
- Review the exam review questions on this page
- Do a few problems from the textbook.
- Do some of the odd problems in the textbook from each section. The answers to the odd problems are in the back of the book!
- Review that graphs of the linear, power, exponential, logarithm, and periodic functions inside the front cover of your textbook.
- There are two study sessions on Tuesday (2:30, and 8 PM) that you can go to, where you can ask about the problems you found difficult. Or stop by Paul's office!
